Delhi traffic cop injured after speeding car hits him, cctv captures incident

A vehicle was reportedly moving on the wrong side of the road, prior to hitting the constable, in the roads of Delhi.

New Delhi: A head constable of the traffic police sustained injuries after being allegedly hit by a speeding car, which was reportedly driven on the wrong side of the road in Southeast Delhi’s Sarai Jullena area.

The incident took place at around 10:30 AM near a crowded traffic signal where Head Constable Rahul Kumar was on duty in order to manage the traffic at the place.

Police said the black Kia car was moving on the wrong side of the road and at a high speed before it hit the traffic policeman, and the vehicle managed to flee from the spot.

All the happenings were recorded on the cameras installed nearby.

Later, Head Constable Rahul Kumar was sent to Fortis Escorts Hospital to get the treatment. Medical teams provided medical assistance to the officer, and his health is stable.

Investigators had started the process of checking the CCTV cameras located in the surrounding areas soon after the incident occurred and identified the black Kia car as being involved.

A case was registered under the relevant section of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act, and teams were also formed to trace the vehicle as well as the person behind it.

The accident had again thrown the spotlight on the hazards that traffic police officers face while doing their jobs.

Officials assured that stern action would be taken against offenders.
