23 covid positives in Delhi, Goverment issues advisory to hospitals to keep beds and oxygen ready

There has been a steady rise of Covid cases in India. According to the reports Delhi has logged 23 new cases within last 24 hours. Delhi health minister has advised the hospitals to keep the beds and oxygen ready.

Pankaj Singh, health minister informed on Friday that 23 covid cases have been reported in Delhi, adding that government is verifying details of patients. Further they are also considering and verifying whether the patients are residents of city or have travel history.

Amid the rising cases in countries like China, Thailand and Singapore. The government has advised the hospitals to keep the beds and oxygen ready before hand.

Meanwhile Reports say that there were as many as 257 active cases as on May 19, 2025. States such as Kerala, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu have reported several active cases.

It is further worth mentioning that on the Covid cases in Delhi, Health authorities are concerned over a new variant called JN 1 across parts of Asia. The JN.1 strain is a descendant of the BA.2.86 variant (an Omicron sub-variant).

Those infected with Covid JN 1 experience mild upper respiratory symptoms. Symptoms include fever, runny nose, sore throat, headaches, extreme fatigue, muscle weakness, exhaustion and minor gastrointestinal problems. In some cases, there may be loss of appetite and persistent nausea.

Symptoms are usually mild and typically improve within four to five days. Health experts advise washing hands regularly, wearing a mask and following other Covid 19 precautions to prevent oneself from being infected.
