Deep depression over Bay of Bengal intensifies into cyclonic storm ‘Mandous’

A deep depression intensified into cyclonic storm named "Mandous" at 6 PM on December 7, 2022 and lay centered over southwest Bay of Bengal.

The deep depression over southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal moved in the west-northwest direction with the speed of 10 kmph over the last six hours. It intensified into the cyclonic storm named “Mandous” at 6 PM on December 7, 2022 and lay centered over southwest Bay of Bengal.

It is likely that the cyclone will move west-northwestward and cross north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts between Puducherry and Shriharikota with a maximum sustained speed of 65-75 kmph gusting to around 85 kmph around the night of December 9, 2022.

Cyclone alert has been issued for the coasts of north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh.
