Srinagar: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was killed by militants in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The jawan, idenitified as Naseer Ahmed Rather, was at his residence when the incident took place on Sunday evening.
The CRPF personnel, who hails from Naira village in Pulwama district was at home when some unidentified men barged in and shot him, before fleeing the scene.
Naseer was rushed to the Pulwama district Hospital where he succumbed to injuries. He was posted as a CRPF battalion in his home district and was on leave. The horrifying incident has occurred just a day after a Jammu and Kashmir Special police officer (SPO) Mudasir Ahmad Lone was abducted by unknown gunmen from his village Chankatar near Tral in Pulwama on Saturday. Later, the SPO was released after an emotional appeal made by his mother.
In the meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered a case against unidentified criminals and a probe has been initiated.
