Covid-19: India Records Highest Daily Death Count In Nearly Six Months

New-Delhi: A total of 1,84,372 new Covid-19 cases have been reported on Wednesday, pushing India’s tally to 1,38,73,825, according to Union Health Ministry.

With 1,027 fatalities in the last 24 hours, the death toll increased to 1,72,085. The number of active cases stand at 13,65,704, while as many as 1,23,36,036 people have recovered from the disease. At least 11,11,79,578 people have been vaccinated so far.

The Maharashtra government have announced curfew-like restrictions on the movement of people in the state from 8 pm on April 14 to May 1. Section 144 has been imposed in the state and only essential services will be allowed for the next 15 days. The state recorded 60,212 cases in the last 24 hours.

The Maharashtra government said all establishments will be closed, except for essential services. Public transport is allowed for essential workers, and for the general public in cases of emergency or essential activities.

According to Indian Council of Medical Research, 6,06,18,866 samples have been tested up to April 13 including 14,11,758 samples tested yesterday.

A total of 83,339 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the number of recoveries to 1,23,36,036 with a recovery rate of 88.92 per cent.

A total of 26,46,528 people were also vaccinated in the same period, taking the total inoculation count to 11,11,79,578 .
