Corona spreads to 52 districts in UP, tally up to 1258

Lucknow: Even as the Corona count in Uttar Pradesh rose to 1258 by Monday night, 52 districts are now affected by the deadly virus.

The state has recorded a fall in the number of cases with 94 new Corona positive patients found on Monday, compared to 174 new cases on Sunday.

In the total tally of 1258 Corona patients, the number of persons connected to Tablighi Jamaat is 814.

The day also saw a medical officer in Moradabad – who contracted Covid-19 — succumbing to the infection while a sub-inspector in Bijnore tested positive for the infection.

A Covid patient in Kanpur also succumbed to Coronavirus during treatment late on Monday night, taking the death toll to 19 in the state.

Etah reported three new cases related to the Paras Hospital of Agra and Sultanpur, with one case, became the new addition to the list of affected districts in state which has now risen to 52.

Agra and Kanpur recorded spike with 12 and 18 new positive cases, respectively, taking their overall tallies to 267 and 75, respectively. Agra Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Mukesh Vats said an ASHA worker was among the other cases reported. In Kanpur, CMO Ashok Shukla, said that new cases belonged to two different madrassas.

Firozabad was the next with 10 new cases, taking its overall tally to 58. Besides, seven cases in Amroha took its total to 17. Amroha CMO Megh Singh said: “All seven cases are contacts of Jamaatis.”

Gautam Buddha Nagar also hit a century with five new cases and the new patients included a pregnant woman and a cancer patient.

Ghaziabad also recorded five cases; Lucknow had two cases while the total for Aligarh reached three with two new patients.

One new case each was recorded in Kannauj, Sultanpur, Moradabad, Meerut, Mathura, Rampur and Auraiyya.

Meerut CMO Raj Kumar said that the new patient in the district is an eight-month pregnant wife of a vegetable vendor.

Principal secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad, said testing would be increased further in all districts while surveillance will continue in districts that have recorded zero active case.
