Congress Releases Manifesto For 2019 Lok Sabha Polls

New Delhi: The Congress on Tuesday released its manifesto for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The manifesto was released in the presence of Congress President Rahul Gandhi, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other important party leaders.

Speaking at the event, P. Chidambaram, who chaired the Congress Manifesto Committee, said the manifesto addresses the interests of farmers, industry, Dalits, minorities, workers, women.

“We could not accommodate all the voices given the limitations, When this is released, you will find that there is enough in it to address the concerns of the farmers, youth, women, industries, minorities, healthcare, foreign policy, national security among others,” he added.

Chidambaram further said that the manifesto looks to bring back the focus to the real issues and not on issues of religion and community. The three issues that the manifesto keeps in mind are unemployment, farmers’ distress and women.

The grand old party’s manifesto has been titled ‘Congress Will Deliver’. During the release, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said the manifesto is truthful and reflects the voice of the people.

“The manifesto is a massive step for Congress. When we started this process a year back, I told them that this manifesto should reflect the wishes of the people and whatever is present in the document should be truthful,” Gandhi said.

The Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases between April 11 and May 19.
