Congress leads in Chhattisgarh, BJP Trails

Raipur: Counting of votes is underway for the 90-member Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh.

Early trend indicates that Congress is leading in 60 seats while BJP is ahead in 21 constituencies BSP-CJC alliance in 9 seats and others in 1 assembly segment.

Three-term Chief Minister Raman Singh of the BJP was briefly trailing in his constituency, but is now leading, when the last reports came in.

In the 2013 elections, the BJP won 49 seats, the Congress 39, while one seat each was bagged by the BSP and an Independent.

Counting of votes is also underway for the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram.
