Bye Bye Plastic: Bamboo bottles to launch in India from Oct 2

New Delhi: In adherence to Central Government’s decision to eliminate the single-use plastic in a bid to make India a plastic-free nation, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Ministry has decided to launch bamboo bottle in market from October 2.

As per a decision taken earlier, the Central MSME minister Nitin Gadkari will launch the bamboo bottles on October 1. The sale of the bottles will start in Khadi and Gram Udyog stores across the country from October 2.

The government believes that the initiative will be beneficial for health apart from being environment-friendly. The capacity of this bottle will be 750 ml with the cost starting from Rs 300. This bottle will be durable and easily disposable.

Notably, in his Independence day address this year, PM had appealed people to begin a new revolution against plastic from October 2, which happens to be the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
