Chennai: In a distressing incident, 4607 BTech, MBA, MCA degree holders applied for the post of sweeper and sanitation worker here. The opening for the posts was in Tamil Nadu Secretariat.
Tamil Nadu Secretariat had openings for ten posts as sweepers and four posts as sanitary workers. The advertisement for the job opening was published on September 26.
The only requirement for both the jobs was to be physically capable enough to do the necessary. Also, the candidate had to be of 18 years at the minimum. The upper age limit was different for both posts.
Shockingly, Employment Exchange received over 4607 applications; most of which were severely overqualified for the posts. It was informed that 677 applications were rejected for various reasons. Rest of the applicants are scheduled to appear for the interview.
