BSF Jawaan Arrested in UP for Spying for ISI

Lucknow: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawaan, identified as Achuytanand Mishra, has been arrested by Uttar Pradesh’s anti-terror squad for spying for Pakistan’s ISI and passing out confidential information. UP Director General of Police O.P Singh said that the BSF jawaan was allegedly ‘honey-trapped’ by Pakistan’s spy agency through the Facebook profile of a woman, posing as a defence reporter.

The jawan was posted at the BSF Composite Hospital in Delhi. He was arrested from Noida near the national capital on Wednesday. The UP state ATS acted on the basis of inputs received by military intelligence that Army and Paramilitary jawaans are being ‘honey-trapped’ by Pakistan’s ISI through facebook profiles of women.

Mishra was in touch with a Facebook ID apparently of a girl, who posed as a defence reporter since January 2016. The ATS team has revealed that the arrested jawaan was allegedly lured into sharing confidential information with the woman regarding the location of BSF units, details of their arms and ammunition and photos and videos of BSF establishments.
