BJP’s BS Yeddyurappa to meet Karnataka Governor to stake claim

Bengaluru: BJP Karnataka chief BS Yeddyurappa will meet Governor Vajubhai Vala to stake claim to form the government on Friday. This comes three days after ruling HD Kumaraswamy-led coalition failed to win the trust vote.

“I am going to meet the Governor today at 10 am to stake claim to form the government and I will request him to hold oath ceremony today itself,” Yeddyurappa told news agency ANI.

It is important to note here that BS Yeddyurappa is a three-time Chief Minister. In the current scenario, he has a very good claim for the coveted position.

The H D Kumaraswamy-led Congress-JD(S) government fell on Tuesday. This occurred after it secured only 99 votes against the BJP’s 105 in the Karnataka Assembly. The vote was held after a series of resignations by JD(S) and Congress MLAs, who alleged lack of stability in the coalition. Karnataka Assembly Speaker had also disqualified three rebel lawmakers, reducing the strength of the house.
