BJP sidelines Advani & Joshi as they fail to feature in UP star campaigners’ list

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) stalwarts Lal Krishna Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi were yet again sidelined by India’s ruling party when it released its list of star campaigners for first two phases of Lok Sabha Elections in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.

It is worth mentioning here that neither Advani nor Joshi have made it to the BJP’s list of parliamentary candidates. Joshi even pointed out that he was specifically asked to not contest upcoming elections.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and top leaders such as Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Uma Bharti, Nirmala Sitharaman, Smriti Irani and Yogi Adityanath are part of this list of star campaigners; but Advani and Joshi- the face of BJP for more than two decades failed to make the list.

Uttar Pradesh will go for Lok Sabha elections in seven phases starting from April 11. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.

There are 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh which are at stake.
