BJP MP Tirath Singh Rawat Sworn-In As Uttarakhand CM

Dehradun: BJP MP Tirth Singh Rawat was sworn-in as the new chief minister of Uttarakhand on Wednesday a day after  the resignation of the former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat.

He took oath infront of the Governor Baby Rani Maurya at the Raj Bhawan in Dehradun.

The MP  was picked over prominent candidates including Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Uttarakhand Minister Dhan Singh Rawat.

The 56-year-old is MP from Garhwal in Uttarakhand.

Tirath Singh Rawat was the state BJP president from 2013-15 and is currently the party’s national secretary. He was also the MLA from the Chaubattakhal constituency from 2012-17.
