Biggest one-day jump, India records nearly 2.5 lakh Covid cases

New-Delhi: India on thursday reported biggest single-day increase in Covid-19 cases. It registered nearly 2.5 lakhs fresh cases. 

The country’s tally now stands at 3.63 crore, which includes 5,488 cases of Omicron variant reported across 28 states and union territories.

With 84,825 recoveries, active cases presently stand at 11,17,531. The daily positivity rate has risen to 13.11%.

Also, as many as 380 more people succumbed due to the virus in the country in the last 24 hours, increasing the total reported death count to 4,85,035.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive has exceeded 154.61 crore, the ministry said.

Amid the recent Omicron surge in Covid-19 cases, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to hold a virtual meeting with the chief ministers of all states today afternoon, to review the coronavirus situation across the country.
