Ayodhya: Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust General Secretary Champat Rai has resigned amid mounting pressure over the Ram Mandir donation theft case. Trust member Anil Mishra has also stepped down.
Both members submitted their resignations following the Special Investigation Team (SIT) report. Based on the SIT’s recommendations, an FIR had already been registered in the case, and investigation is ongoing.
Police had earlier taken action over allegations of theft of cash donations and several ornaments given to the Ram Mandir. So far, eight people have been arrested in connection with the case. The accused include Ramakant alias Tinu Yadav, Subhash Srivastava, Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Abhinash Shukla, Karunesh Pandey, Manish Yadav, and Ramashankar Mishra. The probe is still underway.
Commenting on the matter, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “Those playing with the faith of the people will not be spared under any circumstances.” He also warned the opposition against making allegations about Ayodhya. “The government acted immediately after the SIT report was received. Those raising questions on this have ill intentions,” he added.
