Assam flood death toll rises as over 3 lakh people remain affected
The flood situation has aggravated due to continuous rains and rescue and relief operation being conducted in the flood hit districts.
Assam: The flood situation in Assam is dire.
Another 7 deaths have been reported in flood-related incidents in the last 24 hours.
Over 3.3 lakh people have been impacted in multiple districts due to ceaseless rain that is flooding a good part of the state.
This now raises the total death toll this year’s floods above 150, with about 30 of those victims in the last four days alone. Sivasagar is a particularly hard-hit district.
Thousands have been left displaced after multiple rivers broke their banks and flooded entire villages and farms.
Relief and emergency centers are in operation and rescue work is underway.
Aid and water have been sent to the devastated region, and it looks as if they may need more soon.
They need our prayers for all those devastated and at risk.
Efforts are on to send relief, including food and drinking water, to the submerged areas.
In the meantime, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rainfall in some parts of the North-East and asked officials to monitor the situation and keep adequate measures ready.
