New Delhi: Eminent scientist Ajit Kumar Mohanty has been appointed Director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), the country’s premier multi-disciplinary nuclear research facility based in Mumbai.
An order by the Ministry of Personnel and Training on Wednesday said Mohanty has been appointed Director, BARC for a period of three years. The post of BARC director had been lying vacant for the last six months.
59-year-old Mohanty currently holds the post of Director of Physics Group at BARC and also heads the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics in Kolkata.
BARC is a multi-disciplinary research centre with extensive infrastructure for advanced research and development covering the entire spectrum of nuclear science, engineering and related areas.
