Kolkata: A bizarre incident came to light where a 60-year-old man was arrested for raping his pet dog for two years at his home. The incident took place in the Chouhati Payarbagan area of Sonapur police station, in the south 24 Parganas.
According to reports, the accused, Ratikant Sardar, was arrested after a couple of neighbours caught him on camera while committing a heinous act. He was spotted in an inebriated and unclothed condition while the dog howled. The locals said, “Sardar had been engaging in sexual acts with his pet dog for nearly two years now. We had repeatedly asked him to release the dog and refrain from such an act, but he refused to listen to us.”
Residents took a video of the accused man having intercourse and posted it on social media after Sardar repeatedly defied them. On social media, the horrifying video of Sardar mating with the dog went viral.
The incident came to light when a member of an animal lover’s organisation stumbled upon the video and registered a complaint at the Sonapur police station.
Now, the accused has been booked under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 11 of the Animal Cruelty Act. The accused was arrested and was set to be produced at Baruipur court on Friday. The abused dog was rescued and sent to a veterinary hospital on Thursday evening.
