7 dead, over 51 injured in massive fire breakout in Mumbai’s Goregaon

At least 6 people have lost their lives while over 40 were reported injured in a massive fire that broke out in Mumbai's Goregaon.

Mumbai: In a tragic incident, at least seven people have lost their lives while over 51 were reported injured in a massive fire that broke out in Mumbai’s Goregaon. The fire broke out during the early morning hours of Friday.

Reports from reliable sources state that the fire broke out at the Jay Bhavani building on MG Road, near Azad Maidan. The incident took place at around 3:00 AM.

Reports from BMC officials state that the fire was confined to ground floor shops. However, people were left stranded in various floors of the ground plus five storeyed building.

The fire was controlled at around 7:00 AM in the morning. Personnel from fire brigade and nearby police have initiated an investigation into the matter. The reason behind the massive fire breakout in Goregaon is yet to be ascertained.

The injured people were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals for necessary treatment. Further details of the matter awaited.
