46 people drown in Bihar in separate incidents in 24 hours, CM Nitish Kumar condoles deaths
Patna: In a tragic piece of news, as many as 46 people have drowned in Bihar in separate incidents in last 24 hours, said reports. The Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has condoled the deaths and has announced an ex-gratia amount as compensation for the loss of lives.
CM Nitish Kumar took to his X handle to condoled the losses and wrote:
औरंगाबाद जिला अंतर्गत मदनपुर प्रखण्ड के कुशहा गांव में 04 बच्चों तथा बारूण प्रखण्ड के इटहट गांव में 03 बच्चों की नहाने के दौरान डूबने से हुई मृत्यु दुःखद। मृतकों के आश्रितों को चार-चार लाख रू॰ की अनुग्रह राशि अविलंब उपलब्ध कराने का निर्देश दिया है। शोक संतप्त परिजनों को दुःख की…

The message slowly translates into, “It is sad that four (4) children in Kushha village of Madanpur block under Aurangabad district and three (3) children in Ithat village of Barun block died due to drowning while bathing.” The CM further said, “Instructions have been given to provide ex-gratia amount of Rs. 4 lakhs each to the dependents of the deceased without delay. I pray to God to give strength to the bereaved family to bear the pain in this hour of grief.”
Media reports say that amo0ng those dead were 37 children and seven women. It is worth mentioning that the people were observing the festival of ‘Jitiya’ or ‘Jivitputrika’. The festival is observed by mothers for the well-being and prosperity of their children. The rituals involve women and their children taking a dip in water bodies.
