3 Killed as helicopter engaged in flood relief crashes in Uttarakhand

Dehradun:  A helicopter engaged in rescue and relief operation in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district crashed when it hit a power cable on Wednesday. Three people who were on board the private helicopter died in the incident.

Indo-Tibetan Border Police personnel who were involved in relief work spotted the chopper crashing and rushed to the spot.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) said the deceased have been identified as Captain Lal, co-pilot Shailesh and a local person named Rajpal.

The helicopter belonged to a company called Heritage Aviation, the SDRF informed.

According to reports, the helicopter was going from Mori to Moldi in Uttarkashi district when the mishap occurred.

Heavy rain and cloudbursts have led to a flood-like situation in parts of Uttarakhand, leaving people stranded in several areas.
