3 killed, 12 injured in multi-car crash at Mumbai’s Bandra-Worli Sea Link

Three people died while 12 were injured after a speeding SUV caused a multi-car collision at the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai.

Mumbai: Three people died while 12 were left injured after a speeding SUV caused a multi-car collision at the toll plaza on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai on Thursday night.

The accident occurred when a Toyota Innova, traveling towards Bandra, collided with a Mercedes just 100 meters before the toll post around 10:15 pm. Subsequently, in an attempt to escape the scene, the Innova crashed into several other vehicles waiting at the toll queue.

According to reports, the incident claimed the lives of two women and one man.

Senior police officer Krishnakant Upadhyay provided further details, stating, “After colliding, the car sped up and hit two to three other vehicles at the toll plaza. A total of six vehicles were damaged in the accident. Nine people sustained injuries, with three fatalities. Among the six injured, two are in a serious condition.”

The driver of the Toyota Innova, who also suffered minor injuries, has been taken into custody, and his vehicle has been seized.

The Bandra-Worli Sea Link, an eight-lane, 5.6-kilometer-long bridge connecting Bandra in West Mumbai to Worli in South Mumbai, has witnessed multiple car accidents in recent months.
