20 killed in wall collapse as rains lash in Mumbai and Pune
Mumbai: At least 13 persons were killed in a wall crash in Malad, here early on Tuesday. Also, another seven expired in yet another wall collapse in Pune as heavy rains lashed across Maharashtra.
According to officials, the compound wall of a school in Pimpripada in Malad suburb collapsed on some adjoining hutments in which more than 13 people were killed, around 1 am on Tuesday.
Early on Tuesday, the compound wall of the Sinhagad College in Pune crashed on some hutments beside, killing at least seven persons.

Another 13 were injured in Mumbai wall collapse. Many people are feared to be trapped under the debris. NDRF teams arrived on spot and initiated the rescue operations. The injured were transferred to nearby hospitals.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his condolences. He announced compensation of ₹ 5 lakh each to the relatives of the dead and ₹ 50,000 for the injured.

IMD has predicted extremely heavy to very heavy rains in parts of coastal Konkan. The predictions forced authorities to declare a public holiday today to ensure the safety of the denizens.
Air, road and rail traffic was also hit for the second consecutive day on Tuesday. Rains have so far claimed around 50 lives in the past five days in the state.
