Bengaluru: In a very shocking incident, a 14-year-old student of a residential school delivered a baby boy in Chikkaballapur of Karnataka.
Police said, she was studying in Class 9 of a residential school in the Tumkur district. The incident came to light when she had gone to her home in Bagepalli taluk and suddenly complained of stomache. Her parents took her to the hospital and the doctors found out that she was pregnant.
The girl was immediately admitted to the hospital and the doctors performed the delivery on January 9, 2024. The baby boy and the mother were stable, police informed.
The hospital authorities informed the police about the case and then a case was registered under section 376 (rape) of the IPC and other relevant Sections of the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
Later, the girl was counselled by the Child Welfare Committee and during the counselling she revealed that she got pregnant by a senior in school.
Meanwhile, the Tumakuru district administration has suspended the hostel warden, the officials said.
