Kurnool: Atleast fourteen people were killed and four sustained critical injuries in a collision between a bus and a truck near Madarpur village in Veldurti Mandal of Kurnool district on Sunday morning.
The accident took place near the Madhapuram village of the district’s Veldurthi block. The bus, which was carrying 18 people, hit the road divider at a high speed, jumped over the divider and collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction on the other side of the road.
While 14 people died on the spot, four children sustained serious injuries. The deceased include eight women, five men and a child.
On being informed,the police reached the spot and shifted the injured persons to Government General Hospital in Kurnool.
The driver of the bus must have dozed-off or the vehicle’s tyre may have burst which might have led to the mishap,informs the police.
