13 Opposition Leaders Request Central Government To Launch Free Mass Vaccination Drive

New Delhi: The leaders of 13 opposition parties have urged the central government in a joint statement to launch a free mass vaccination drive in view of the uncontrollable surge in Covid-19 cases across the country.

They called upon the Centre to ensure uninterrupted flow of oxygen supplies to all hospitals and health centres.

The opposition leaders also said that the budgetary allocation of Rs 35,000 crore for the vaccination programme must be utilized for the requested drive.

The signatories include President of the Indian National Congress ( INC ) Party Sonia Gandhi, JDS leader and former prime minister HD Deve Gowda, leader of Nationalist Congress Party ( NCP ) Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and Trinamool Congress ( TMC ) supremo Mamata Banerjee, leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha ( JMM ) and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam ( DMK ) chief MK Stalin, Bahujan Samaj Party ( BSP ) supremo Mayawati, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, D Raja (CPI) and Sitaram Yechury (CPI-M).
