As many as 12 police personnel have been suspended after an alleged assault on an army officer and his son in Patiala hospital.
Patiala: In the incident of alleged assault on army officer and son in Patiala hospital as many as 12 police personnel have been suspended, said reports on Monday.
According to reports SSP Nanak Singh told ANI, “It is an unfortunate incident where there was a clash between an army officer and police. An FIR has been registered in the matter and an investigation is being conducted.”
He further added that, “Respect for the army is our priority. There have always been cordial relations between the police and the local army unit and we will ensure strict action against those guilty.”
“12 police personnel have been suspended for departmental inquiry, which will be time-bound and completed within 45 days. Both parties have registered their statements and we will take technical evidence, as well as all the on-record evidence and we will take the investigation to a logical conclusion,” he said.
It is worth mentioning that, the involved ranks included Inspector, Sub-Inspector, ASI, Head Constable and Constable.
