Pulwama: At least 12 CRPF personnel were martyred and several others were injured in a terrorist attack in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir here this afternoon.
According to reports, the incident took place when a bus of the CRPF convoy, with 2500 personnel in 70 vehicles, was blown up by an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion followed by gunshots in Goripora area on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Awantipora. The convoy was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu.
Terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad, meanwhile, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The death toll is likely to increase as most of the injured jawans are said to be critical.
A rescue operation has been begun by the local police with the support of other jawans.
