11 killed, 10 injured after truck overturns on bus in Uttar Pradesh

Sahajahanpur: At least 11 people were killed while 10 others were injured after a truck overturned on top of a bus carrying devotees to Uttarakhand on Saturday night.

According to reports, the incident occurred under Khutar police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district. Reportedly, a ballast stones-laden truck hit the parked bus at a roadside dhaba and overturned on it. The incident resulted in crushing the passengers of the bus to death.

On receiving information, police reached the spot and rescued the injured. The cops rushed the injured to the hospital and initiated a probe into the matter.

Speaking about the incident to media agency ANI, Shahjahanpur SP Ashok Kumar Meena said, “Around 11 pm,  we got the information that in the Khutar PS area, a bus was parked, devotees who were going to Purnagiri were sitting inside the bus and some devotees were having food at a Dhaba. A truck lost control and turned turtle on top of the bus…total 11 people died and 10 were injured. All injured have been admitted to hospital.”

Earlier, at least 22 persons were reportedly killed in a massive fire at a gaming zone in Gujarat’s Rajkot on Saturday. The fire broke out inside the gaming zone in a shopping mall when it was teeming with children. Police teams and fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. Sources said the owner of the gaming zone has been arrested.
