10 Pilgrims killed in road mishap in Odisha

Nuapada: As many as 10 pilgrims were killed when their vehicle collided head-on with a truck on NH 353 near Silda Nala in Odisha’s Nuapada district late last night.

The deceased, 6 men and 4 women, have been identified as the residents of Sakra in Mahasamund area of neighbouring Chhattisgarh.

According to reports, the mishap occurred at around 2 AM when the pilgrims were returning their village in a Bolero after offering prayers at the Vaishno Devi temple in Komna of the district. All ten persons died on the spot.

On being informed Nuapada police and Fire Services personnel reached the spot and recovered bodies. Later the bodies were sent to the Nuapada District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy test, reports added.

Family members of the deceased have been informed and a case has been registered in this connection, police said.
