1 killed as Tatanagar-Ernakulam Express coaches catch fire

Around 82 passengers were present in one coach and 76 in another when the Tatanagar-Ernakulam Express caught fire on Monday

Visakhapatnam: A man was killed as two compartments of the Tatanagar-Ernakulam Express caught fire at Yalamanchili on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Chandrsekhar Sundaram.

The fire incident broke out at around 12.45 am, as per official sources.

As per sources, around there were 82 passengers in one of the affected coaches and 76 in another when the train caught fire.

It was reported that the Commission of Railway Safety, SCR, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada, and other senior officers rushed to the site.

According to the police, the body of the deceased was found after the fire was brought under control.

Later, forensic team along with the medical team reached the accident spot to collect evidence to understand the exact reason of the fire. They also tried to find out if there are any casualties at the spot.

The two fire affected coaches proceeding towards Ernakulam were detached from the train.

Passengers of the two affected coaches were shifted to Samalkot Railway Station by bus services.
