1 CRPF Jawaan Dead, 6 Injured In Maoist Attack In Dantewada

Raipur: A CRPF Jawaan was killed and 6 others were injured when a group of Maoists attacked a CRPF patrol party in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district this morning. The condition of two of the injured jawans is said to be serious.

The deceased jawan has been identified as Sashikant Tiwari. The others injured are Praveen Kumar Singh, G Muthukrishnan, Harikrishnan, Sumit Kumar, Jitendra Singh Tomar and Pandav Kumar.

As per reports, the 231 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were conducting a search operation in Aranpur when Maoists attacked them with an IED blast and a hail of bullets.

The jawans retaliated and hit a few Maoists. The injured red rebels were dragged into the forest by Maoists while others took their place and continued firing at the security forces.

The encounter took place near Kondapara and Kamalpur CRPF posts, Dantewada SP Abhishek Pallava informed.

He also informed that the CRPF base sent reinforcements as soon as it was informed of the attack. The six injured jawans were first taken to the Dantewada headquarters and then airlifted to Raipur for medical treatment.
