Watch: Salman Khan’s heartfelt words on Aishwarya-Abhishek’s marriage

Mumbai: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s past romance with Salman Khan has resurfaced in the spotlight. As the past romance of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan with Salman Khan makes a comeback, however, the two were said to have parted in 2002, and though they preferred not to discuss their romantic affiliation with the public.

Once Salman Khan was questioned about the allegations of mistreatment towards Aishwarya, on Aap Ki Adalat, to which he responded with restraint, “I’d rather not comment on that, sir. I firmly believe that one’s personal life should remain private. If I were to defend myself, it would only validate the rumors and potentially deny someone’s existence in my past.”

When asked if claims of mistreatment during their romance were true, Salman replied rather tactfully, “regarding her, I’d rather not comment. I believe that one’s personal life remains private. But defending that would justify the gossip.”

Salman continued with the praise saying, “The best thing to do is stay silent. Itne saal beet gaye hai, you know, she is someone’s wife, married into a big family. I am very happy that she is married to Abhishek. I think Abhishek is a great guy. This is the best thing any ex-boyfriend would want. You don’t want, once your friendship is over, you don’t want that person to be miserable without you. You want that person to be really really happy without you. So that, ek selfish reason bhi hogya, there’s no guilt on your head. But it’s the best way to see it. That’s how I feel,”

In fact, such an old interview has recently surfaced in social media due to talks of chaos in Abhishek and Aishwarya’s married life. Incidentally, neither Abhishek nor Aishwarya addressed the tittle-tattle in public.
