Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer much-anticipated film Stree 2 has become the biggest opener of the year 2024. The film has outperformed the opening day collections of 2023’s blockbuster Gadar 2 by earning Rs 46 crore on the release day.
Directed by Amar Kaushik, the much-anticipated horror-comedy movie emerged as the biggest opener of the year surpassing Fighter, starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, which earned Rs 24.6 crore on its first day in January. The movie also surpassed Kalki 2898 AD, which was released in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil and made Rs 22.5 crore (in Hindi version) on its opening day.
Meanwhile, the movie was released along with John Abraham’s Vedaa and the Akshay Kumar’s film Khel Khel Mein. While Veda managed to collect only Rs 6.52 crore across India, Khel Khel Mein garnered just Rs 5 crore.
It is worth mentioning here that Stree 2 stars Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Aparsakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi and Abhishek Banerjee. It has also starred Akshay Kumar (in a cameo as Sarkata), Varun Dhawan (in a cameo as ‘Bhediya’), and features a special appearance by Tamannaah Bhatia. The movie has been directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films and Jio Studios.
