Netflix Content Head summoned over IC814 web series, know why
New Delhi: Netflix Content Head has been summoned by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting over the ‘IC814’ web series content row, said sources.
According to the reports obtained, the Netflix Content Head has been called upon to appear before the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The summon came after, hundreds of social media users accused the makers of the web series of deliberately changing the names of the hijackers to “Bhola” and “Shankar”. The users have said the use of Hindu names was a camouflage. Some users said it feels as Hindus had caused the highjack.
The Home Ministry statement read as follows, “To the passengers of the hijacked place these hijackers came to be known respectively as (1) Chief, (2) Doctor, (3) Burger, (4) Bhola and (5) Shankar, the names by which the hijackers invariably addressed one another. ”
This web series on Netflix IC814 talks about the hijacking of Indian Airlines flight 814 on December 24, 1999. The plane had 191 onboard and took off from Nepal’s Kathmandu and was headed for Delhi. But later five hijackers, took control of the plane. Later the flight had made several landings, at Amritsar, Lahore, Dubai, and then finally landed in Kandahar in Afghanistan.
