Felt financially suffocated, was down to last two lakh: Masaba Gupta

Mumbai: The COVID-19 pandemic was indeed a challenging time for everyone from celebrities to ordinary people worldwide. Regardless their social status or background. Pandemic affected economic hardship, social isolation and disruption of daily livelihoods.

In conversation with with Faye D’Souza during a podcast, Masaba Gupta, daughter of veteran actress Neena Gupta and Antiguan cricketer Vivian Richards, has shared how she dealt with tough situations during the Covid period. The celebrity designer and actor recalled that the pandemic had impacted her mentally and financially so bad that she couldn’t pay Rs 12,000 to her cook. Just when things seemed bleak, another challenge arose. She had to shut down 5 of her shops within two short months. She had only left of Rs 2 lakh in her bank account. COVID-19 bought the fashion and cinema industry to a standstill. Many designers and actors had to face the consequences of the deadly pandemic.

Reportedly Masaba Gupta got married to Film producer Madhu Mantena in 2015. The couple announced their pregnancy in April 2024.
