BTS’ Jungkook wins 2023 Billboard Music Awards for his Global K-pop Hit ‘Seven’ Featuring Latto

BTS' Jungkook won 2023 Billboard Music Awards for the Global K-pop song category with his debut solo track, "Seven," featuring Latto.

In a historic win at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, Bangtan Sonyeodan’s (BTS) golden maknae, Jeon Jungkook, secured the top honor for the Global K-pop song category with his debut solo track, “Seven,” featuring American singer and rapper Latto.

The song, which also stars Korean actress Han So Hee, has maintained its position as one of the year’s most talked-about hits, reigning over global music charts for consecutive months and still holding a prominent place on the Billboard Top 100 and Top 200 since July 14, 2023.

Known as the “Billboard Singer,” Jungkook’s powerful vocals and star-studded collaborations have solidified his dominance in the global music scene. Competing against tough contenders like Fifty Fifty’s “Cupid,” Jimin’s “Like Crazy,” NewJeans’s “Ditto,” and NewJeans’s “OMG,” Jungkook’s “Seven” emerged victorious.

During the award acceptance speech, Jungkook expressed his gratitude, saying, “It’s truly an honor. It’s very hard to express my gratitude in words. Thank you ARMY and everyone who loved this, without you, it wouldn’t have been possible. While working on ‘Seven,’ I enjoyed those moments and want to thank everyone and Billboard for giving me this award.”

The night also saw other notable victories, with JYP’s Stray Kids winning the top K-pop album at the BBMA. Their seventh studio album, “5 Star,” competed against BTS’ Jimin’s “FACE,” NewJeans’s 2nd EP “Get Up,” TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s “The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION,” and TWICE’s “READY TO BE: 12th Mini Album.”

Making history, ADOR and HYBE’s NewJeans became the first 4th generation K-pop group to win a BBMA, joining BLACKPINK, who also clinched their first Billboard award at the prestigious musical night. The event featured electrifying performances by Stray Kids and NewJeans, showcasing the dynamic talent within the K-pop industry.
