Girls’ Day out: Raja fever grips City

A special programme was organised by Odisha Patita Udhar Samiti, in which around 60 students of a local school gathered to celebrate the Raja Parba with prison inmates of Jharpada Jail. Swings were placed and a poda pitha cake was cut. Minister Damodar Rout participated in the festivities.
In Patrapada, over 100 swings were placed atop trees for girls to enjoy the day.  ‘Puchi’, the traditional game of adolescent girls, was played on the occasion.
Raja was also celebrated in slums of Bhubaneswar. Several NGOs came together to make the day special for the slum children. In Shikarchandi, a competition was held.
Several hotels and restaurants in the City are offering ‘Raja Special’ delicacies. The Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) run Panthanivas is also organising special festivities offering a wide range of Odia delicacies. ‘Raja Paan’ outlets have been set up at many places in Bhubaneswar.
