BJD MP Baijayant Panda, who was sacked as the spokesperson for the BJD parliamentary party on Friday, took a dig at fellow MP Bhartruhari Mahatab, who had expressed similar opinion about the party in public, but has not been penalized.
“I was not the only one who expressed my opinion after the Panchayat polls. Even MP Bhartruhari Mahatab has been vocal about it. In fact, he has spoken and written (about the party affairs) much more than I did,” said Baijayant Panda in his reaction after being removed as spokesperson.
“Even other Ministers, MLA and also the Chief Minister had come out in the public and said the party needs introspection,” he added.
But the BJD pointed to the fact that Panda had defied the party’s policy and openly expressed his opinion on party related matters on social media and columns in newspapers.
Clarifying the sacking, BJD leader Surjya Patro said, “Baijayant Panda didn’t act as BJD Parliamentary spokesperson. Instead, he used to talk on party affairs in public forums.”
