The Additional Solicitor General deposed before the Supreme Court on Tuesday while representing the Centre over the Mahanadi river water dispute.
Odisha government also furnished more data in the case before the apex court. The Court fixed July 25 to conduct the next hearing of the case.
Earlier, both Odisha and Chhattisgarh governments had presented their sides before the SC after the former knocked the door of the court in December last year as per Article 131 of the Indian Constitution.
In its petition, the Odisha government had requested the neibouring state to stop the ongoing construction projects on the upper catchment of Mahanadi river. Besides, it had urged the Union government to form a tribunal according to the Inter-State Water Disputes (ISWD) Act, 1956, to solve the problem.
