Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Scheme: Here’s all a student needs to know before applying to get Rs 5000
The Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Scheme has been launched by the Odisha government with an aim to reduce dropout rate among ST students.
The ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes welfare Department of the State government will provide a one-time incentive of Rs 5000 to ST students getting enrolled in class IX & class XI under the Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Scheme.
This incentive amount is envisioned to encourage greater enrolment and completion of Secondary and Higher Secondary education by ST students.
- This scheme has been made operational in the current academic year 2024-25
- This scheme is applicable for only Scheduled Tribe students whose annual family income is not more than Rs 2,50,000.
- ST students who have taken admission in class IX & class XI will receive a onetime incentive amount of Rs 5000.
- This scheme is applicable for ST students of only Govt. and Govt. Aided High School and Higher Secondary School within the state.
- The incentive amount will be provided directly in the bank-account of eligible student
- Concerned Principal/ HM of the Higher Secondary School/ High School will recommend and sanction the application of eligible students directly to Department through Odisha State Scholarship Portal.
All eligible students/ parent are therefore requested to submit copies of student’s caste certificate, Aadhaar and first page of bank-passbook along with income certificate of parent to their school Principal/ HM at the earliest.
Essential instructions to read:
- The eligibility criteria of different schemes hosted in the portal varies from scheme to scheme. Students studying in India and fulfilling the requirements of various scheme guidelines & Ministries are eligible to apply for the scholarships.
- The eligible schemes are showcased based on the information provided by the student/applicant.
- Being eligible for schemes does not guarantee entitlement to avail of scholarship. Various scheme guidelines and the approval process must be followed to obtain the scholarship.
- Students are required to register for the first time to apply for any scheme.
- If the applicant is already registered in the portal, i.e., students already having their User Id and password, will simply click on the LOGIN button in the Scholarship portal to proceed.
- The Portal will prompt for Aadhaar authentication to verify the demographic details.
- The student’s Aadhaar card must be linked to their mobile number.
- The Student is required to specify his/her 12-digit Aadhaar Number for verification using OTP for registration.
