RTO New Rule: Follow these steps to make Duplicate Registration Certificate easily

It is no new news that driving without a Registration Certificate (RC) is a crime. Not only RC but everyone who owns a car must stay updated with all our necessary certificates including pollution certificate, insurance, and driving license.

Vehicle RC especially is one of the most important documents which is required for almost all vehicle-related work. It secures the identity of the particular vehicle. and in case of problems like the vehicle being stolen, an FIR can be lodged with the police. As the RC proves the vehicle number and legal owner details along with other essential information.

Therefore, if the Registration Certificate of the vehicle gets lost somewhere one can get into real trouble. However, in such cases, if one wants to get a duplicate RC made, this news can be helpful. For a duplicate registration certificate, you have to follow some important steps.

How To Apply For Duplicate RC Offline

  • To obtain a duplicate RC through the offline method, firstly, you need to register an FIR with the police about the lost original Registration Certificate. For the FIR, you need to provide the details of the owner of the vehicle, chassis number, engine number, and registration number. To get these things, one can go to the RTO office where the vehicle was first registered.
  • After receiving the RC-Extract from the office, fill in the duplicate RC application form. RC-Extract contains information about the registered vehicle of the car owner as well as the driver’s license. Make sure to match your details on the form with Form 26. Do not forget to receive the receipt after submitting the paperwork.

How To Apply For Duplicate RC Online

  • To get a duplicate RC through the online method you have to visit the official website. Fill the form for duplicate RC there and provide information including police FIR and vehicle insurance.
  • A fixed fee is estimated to get the duplicate RC. Save and copy the receipt received after making the payment. Then submit the receipt and other documents to the RTO office.
  • For duplicate RC some documents are mandatory to submit. It includes form number 26, original copy of FIR in case of car theft or loss, copy of PUC, copy of insurance certificate, copy of the address, traffic police challan clearance, PAN card, or verified copy of Form 60 and 61, the pencil of chassis and engine. A print of all the above-mentioned documents along with the identity of the owner’s signature, etc will have to be submitted.
  • Along with all the documents, an affidavit is needed to be submitted stating that you have lost the RC and it has not been taken again.
