PAN card can be made before the age of 18 years; Know how

Permanent Account Number (PAN) card is a very necessary document for any governmental application or financial transaction and other important official procedures. It is needed in several officail works from transferring of money to government works to opening a bank account.

If you want your child to be the nominee of your investment, or if the investment is made in the child’s name then he or she will require a PAN card.

Indian citizens are eligible to apply for a PAN card after the age of 18. But, do you know a PAN card can also be made for a person below 18. However, there are some conditions you need to fulfill to do that.

This is how you can make a PAN card before the age of 18 years:

If you want to apply for a PAN card for a child under the age of 18 then it can be done by their parents. As I have already told a minor can’t apply for a PAN card on their own. But, the child’s parents can apply for a PAN card on their behalf.

Here is how you can apply for the PAN card easily

• First, go to the NSDL’s website.
• Fill in personal information while selecting the relevant candidate category.
• You would have upload the proof of the minor’s age and other important documents.
• You will also need to upload the child’s parents’ photo and their signature.
• Pay the application fee of Rs 107.
• Now submit the form.
• You will receive a receipt number and a confirmation mail on your email after submitting the application. You can use this receipt number to check the status of your application.
• Then after successful verification, you will receive your PAN card within 15 days.

Documents needed to apply for a Pan Card

If you are applying for a PAN card for a child below 18 years then you need to have the address of the minor’s parents and documents for identification confirmation.

The applicant’s address and proof of identity are also necessary.

Furthermore, the minor’s guardian will be required to give their proof of identity example, Aadhar Card, Ration Card, Passport, Driving License, or Voter ID.

For address verification, you will need to submit a copy of your Aadhar card, post office passbook, property registration document, or original residence certificate.
