  1. Crime Branch STF busts drug racket in Khordha, 1 held

Busting a drug and illegal mining racket in Khordha district, the Special Task Force of Odisha Crime Branch last night arrested a peddler following an encounter near TLC Road in which he sustained bullet injury. The held peddler has been identified as Manoranjan Sahu.

  1. IMD Forecasts Heavy Rainfall In Odisha Due To Low Pressure In Bay Of Bengal

The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall across the state due to the formation of a low-pressure system over northeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood. The MeT department also forecasted that westward movement of the low-pressure system may trigger heavy rainfall with isolated very heavy and extremely heavy rainfall across Odisha from June 30 to July 1.

  1. Eminent Odia filmmaker Keshab Rout passes away

Eminent Odia filmmaker Keshab Rout passed away following a cardiac arrest at his residence in Shankarpur of Cuttack today. He was 68. Rout who had produced a number of Odia hit movies like ‘Santan’, ‘Bhisma Pratigyan’, ‘Suna Chadhei’ and ‘Suna Harini’ is well known for his landmark movie Suna Chadhei which had won widespread acclamation.

  1. Achyuta Samanta Extends Helping Hand To Canal Man Of Odisha

Daitari Naik is popularly known as the ‘Canal Man of Odisha’ was conferred with a Padma Shri for single-handedly carving a three-kilometre-long canal from a mountain stream in his village in Keonjhar district. Samanta today provided financial assistance of Rs 4000 to Naik and promised to provide monthly assistance of Rs 3000 by KISS Foundation. The MP also requested the Keonjhar district administration to extend help to Naik.

Odisha DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma held a review meeting over the security arrangements for the forthcoming Rath Yatra on Sunday. The meeting was held at Puri town hall here. With just a few days left for the world-famous chariot festival, maintenance of law and order is the prime agenda for Odisha Police.

  1. PM stresses on water conservation In First Mann Ki Baat Of Second Term

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday resumed his radio programme, Mann Ki Baat. This was his first show after his second successful term. As his first request, he asked for starting a people’s movement (Jan Andolan) for water conservation. In his second request, he asked people to “share traditional knowledge on water conservation” passed through generations. Lastly, he requested that names of people and organizations working for water conservation be shared for the creation of a unique national database.

  1. India proposes fresh discussion with Pakistan on Kartarpur Corridor

India has proposed Pakistan to hold a second round of fresh talks on Kartarpur Corridor. The discussions will be held on July 11-14, and it shows India’s commitment to the corridor. The meeting would discuss the draft agreement on the modalities for movement of pilgrims along the Kartarpur corridor, official sources revealed. The two countries would also attempt to resolve outstanding technical issues related to alignment and infrastructure along the corridor.

  1. Pakistan-origin 532 kg smuggled heroin seized at Attari

The Customs Department Officials seized 532 kg of suspected heroin smuggled in a truck through the trade route at the Attari border. It is estimated to be worth Rs 2,700 crore. The consignment of heroin and another 52 kg of suspected mixed narcotics were concealed under hundreds of bags of rock salt in the truck. The truck arrived at Attari from Pakistan through Integrated Check Post (ICP) on Saturday, Customs (Preventive) Commissioner Deepak Kumar Gupta said.

  1. Chief Ministers Of Congress-ruled States To Meet Rahul Gandhi On Monday

According to sources, chief ministers of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry and Punjab will meet Rahul Gandhi at the Congress headquarters in New Delhi on Monday, urging him to take back his decision to resign from his post. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara is also likely to attend the meet.

               US President Donald Trump Meets Kim Jong Un In North Korea

Making it to major news headlines, Donald Trump became the only sitting US president to set foot inside North Korea. He brought Kim back over the dividing line for a meeting where they agreed to start working-level talks on Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons. Trump also said he had invited the young leader to the White House “anytime he wants to do it”. “It’s a great day for the world and it’s an honour for me to be here,” Trump said. “A lot of great things are happening.”
