In a viral image, which is nearly 4 decades ago a NASA astronaut is see floating in space, the astronaut has been identified as Bruce McCandless.

He can be seen floating completely unbound in a place away from the safety of the space shuttle. This viral image has taken over the internet.

This eye-catching photo has been shared through a science page, named “Curiosity” on Twitter and captioned that, ” Perhaps the most-terrifying space photograph to date. Astronaut Bruce McCandless II floats completely untethered, away from the safety of the space shuttle, with nothing but his Manned Maneuvering Unit keeping him alive. This image was clicked whilst the astronaut had to step out of the Challenger space shuttle to rehearse for a satellite-repair mission. The photo marks a unique accomplishment as it became the number one time that an astronaut had walked inside the darkish without vicinity while being a ways far from the spacecraft.
