In fact, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is providing an insurance cover of up to Rs 10 lakh to people traveling by rail at almost zero premium of just 35 paise. In such a situation, it can be the cheapest and best insurance cover for the travelers.

How to avail the Indian Railways travel insurance

You will get the option of travel insurance while booking your train ticket through IRCTC. If you choose this option, you will be given this insurance cover. At the same time, all the passengers whose tickets will be booked through one PNR, it will be applicable to all those passengers.

According to the IRCTC website, insurance will be available for

• Permanent Partial Disability
• Permanent Total Disability
• Hospitalization expenses
• Transportation of mortal remains
• Death during travel
