Bhubaneswar: On many occasions it is seen that many of the new voters though they have attained the minimum age required to vote, they don’t find their names in the voter list. However, you must have a valid voter ID card to cast your vote. And voter ID card is issued to them whose names are in the voter list. So, how can you know, whether your name is already there in the voter list or not? Here are some ways:
Open the following link. It is the National Voters’ Service Portal. Put the informations required in the boxes and put enter.

If your name is there it will show, otherwise it will show ‘no results found’. If your name does not appears in the voter list, there may be also probable that your name might be entered in the voter list with some mistake. The NVSP will show your name only if the name you will type will match with the data available in its database. In such cases try these other methods.
If you are not sure if your name is already registered, you can search for your name in voter list by following the below steps:
- Visit your state election commission official website.
- On the homepage of the website, you will find web links to voter lists, click on the respective link. This will be in a PDF format.
- You will see a state-wise electoral roll in the PDF file. Select the state you reside in or the state you registered as a voter.
- Once you click on the link, a new tab will also open in which you can search for your name in the voter list by either entering your voter ID Card number or your full name.
- Enter either your voter ID Card number or your full name and hit “Search”.
- If you are on the voter list, your name will appear.
- If your name does not appear, check if all the information you entered is correct and try again.
- If your name still does not appear, your name is not on the voter list. Please register for a new Voter ID Card.
