Here’s how to know if someone has taken loan using your pan card

Cybercriminals have found a new way to defraud innocent people/consumers. They take loans in someone’s name by using PAN (Permanent Account Number) card and Aadhar card. This is becoming possible because some lender companies give small loans only on the basis of PAN card or mobile number.

There have been many cases in which PAN cardholders have come to know that loans against their PAN have been given to some unknown person without their consent. The CIBIL score of the victims is getting badly affected due to this PAN card loan fraud.

The first step to avoid such PAN card fraud by such cybercriminals is one should not share his/her PAN or Aadhaar number with unknown persons. Besides, they should remain alert while sharing their PAN or Aadhaar number at places where they may be misused. The purpose of sharing photocopy of one’s PAN card or Aadhaar card has to be kept in writing so that there will not be any chances of misuse of PAN or Aadhaar numbers.

This apart, the PAN cardholders should regularly check their CIBIL score and loan details. This can be done online by logging in at the services of any credit bureau such as CIBIL, Equifax, Experian or CRIF High Mark.

Some fintech apps like Paytm and PolicyBazaar provide users CIBIL score instantly along with one’s loan details, therefore, you also can check your loan details frequently by logging in at these fintech firms to find out the details of the loans taken against your name by using your PAN number.
