Gurugram: Residents of Phalodi village in Gurugram came up with a unique idea to turn salty groundwater of the area into freshwater. They dug a pond and linked it to a nearby canal.
The villagers accomplished this task under the Integrated Watershed Management Programme.
While speaking to ANI, Sarpanch of Phalodi Village, S Yadav said, “We used to get salty groundwater, wherever we use to dig in the village.”
So, we dug a pond under the Integrated Watershed Management Programme, connected it with the nearby canal using pipeline and filled it with water. Within 3-4 months, groundwater turned into freshwater.”
